Coolpix L24 is the latest compact digital camera in the lifestyle series of Nikon. Coolpix L24 is a 14 megapixel camera and has a CCD sensor with 6.18 x 4.55 mm dimension. It has aspect ratios of 4:3 and 16:9. The camera also has Electronic Vibration Reduction feature, which helps in countering camera shake.

Body

Nikon L24 weighs 182g and has dimension of 98 x 61 x 28 mm. It has a 3-inch TFT LCD screen with a resolution of 230,000 dot pixels. This Nikon camera has internal memory of 17 MB and additional external memory can be added using SD memory card (also SDHC/SDXC compliant). The camera kit consists of two LR6/L40 (AA-size) alkaline batteries, which are capable of taking 220 shots. The Coolpix L24 also supports EN-MH2 and lithium batteries, which can click up to 450 and 700 shots, respectively.

Performance

The Coolpix L24 has optical zoom of 3.6x and digital zoom of 4x. The camera has Contrast detection Auto Focus with the range of 30 cm in Normal mode and 5 cm in Macro mode. This Nikon camera has Auto sensitivity feature, which ranges from ISO 80 - 1600. The shutter speed of the camera ranges from 1/4000 to 4sec. The in-built Flash has range of 7 m and the Aperture ranges from F3.1 - F6.7.

Features and Connectivity

The Nikon Coolpix has scene modes such as Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Night portrait, Party/indoor, Beach/Snow, Sunset, Dusk/dawn, Night landscape, Close-up, Food, Museum, Fireworks show, Copy, Backlight, and Panorama assist. The Face recognition feature in this camera detects up to 12 faces. The self-timer feature can be setup for 10 seconds duration. Coolpix L24 features shooting at 0.7 fps up to 3 shots in continuous mode. It also has BSS (Best Shot Selector) and Multi-shot 16 (16 frames with a single burst) capture modes. Coolpix L24 can record video at a resolution of 640 x 480 at 30fps. The camera supports AVI movie format and Compressed JPEG (EXIF) image format. In terms of connectivity, the Nikon Coolpix L24 can connect to computer using USB 2.0.
