You can now make friends envious with the Nikon Coolpix S100. From Nikon's S series of point and shoot digital cameras, the S100 is ideal for everyday photography. The Nikkor lens of this Nikon digital camera has a 5x optical zoom with a focal length of 5 - 25 mm and a 35 mm equivalent focal length of 28 - 140 mm. This Coolpix camera also has a 4x digital zoom which you can use to bring your subjects closer.

This Coolpix camera has a CMOS image sensor with which you can take pictures at 16 megapixel resolution. This Nikon Coolpix camera weighs 138 g and can fit comfortably in your pocket or handbag. The smooth corners and slim body of the S100 make this a stylish camera. The back panel of the camera is completely devoid of buttons, maintaining its streamlined look.

You can shoot videos in Full HD at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 dot pixel (30 fps). With the 3.5 inch OLED touchscreen display which has a resolution of 820,000 dot pixel, you can compose pictures and shoot videos with ease and edit them at the touch of a finger. The display screen also has an anti-reflection coating that makes viewing pictures in the sun convenient.

In the 3D mode, a simple two click process allows you to capture a still image from 2 perspectives. The Nikon S100 then processes the images together, creating a 3D photographic image.

Battery and Storage

You can take up to 150 images with the rechargeable Lithium Ion battery on a single charge. This Nikon S100 has an inbuilt memory of 71 MB and can be expanded using SD, SDHC or SDXC memory cards.

You can now keep space in your S100 camera available for more pictures by transferring all images to a PC or a laptop using the high speed USB 2.0 port. You can also watch your Full HD videos on an HDTV by connecting the Coolpix S100 using the HDMI mini connector.

Performance

Aperture refers to the size of the opening in the lens with which the picture is taken and controls the amount of light that falls on the image sensor. This Nikon S100 camera has an aperture range of f/3.9 - 4.8. You can take precise pictures with the Coolpix camera's Auto focus range of 500 mm onwards on Auto mode and from 10 mm onwards on Macro mode.

ISO refers to the light sensitivity of the image sensor. In the Nikon Coolpix S100, the light sensitivity ranges from ISO 125 - 800 in Auto mode and from ISO 125 - 3200 in Manual mode. This Coolpix digital camera has a shutter speed of 1 - 1/1500 second on Auto mode and can go up to 4 seconds on Fireworks scene mode. You can take bright pictures even in the dark with in-built flash.

Features

The Nikon Coolpix has 20 preset scene modes like Pet Portrait, Food, Museum, Fireworks show and many more. The in-camera filter effects in this Coolpix point and shoot, like Selective color, Cross Screen, Fish Eye and Miniature Effect can be used to liven up your pictures further.

You can also use the The Night Portrait scene mode allows you to take stunning pictures even in dim light. A combination of electronic and lens-shift vibration reduction ensures that you take blur-free pictures at every occasion.

The Smile timer function of this Coolpix camera automatically detects when your subject smiles and releases the shutter to capture those perfect moments. The Face Priority auto focus feature can find and focus up to 12 faces in a single frame. The Nikon Coolpix S100's Blink Warning function can detect if the subject has blinked in a picture and will warn you, so the image can be retaken.

The self-timer in the Coolpix S100 has options of delaying the shutter release by 2 or 10 seconds. You can also capture up to 3 shots in the Continuous mode at 8.1 frames per second.
