This DSLR has a CCD sensor of dimensions 23.6 x 15.8 mm and supports 3:2 aspect ratio. The Nikon D3000 has an Integrated Dust Reduction System which removes accumulated dust from the sensor, thus maintaining its durability and quality.

Body

Weighing 485 g, this Nikon DSLR has a compact body with round edges, giving you a firm hand grip. The mode dial of this digital SLR is has a diamond-patterned knurling which helps in an easier grip. The back panel of the camera has the four function buttons on the left of the LCD, while the right side has the four-way selector and the delete button. This leaves ample space to hold the camera steady and access buttons easily.

The D3000 is built with an Electronically controlled vertical-travel focal plane shutter. Alternatively, you can also use the Bulb Exposure to gain higher control over the shutter speed.

The ISO sensitivity of the Nikon D3000 ranges from ISO 100 - 1600 which can be manually extended up to ISO 3200 equivalent. With a higher the ISO, faster shutter speeds and brighter pictures can be shot, even with low external light. The D3000 has a powerful built-in pop up flash and you can also attach an external flash via the hot shoe.

The Nikon D3000 has a unique in-camera Guide Mode which will assist you every step of the way. Another interesting feature is the Scene Recognition System. This corrects the exposure accuracy, white balance, illumination and auto focus of the entire frame milliseconds before you trip the shutter release.

The D3000 digital SLR also has a self-timer facility that can delays the shutter release up to 20 seconds. Never miss a moment with the Continuous Shooting mode which allows you to capture a speedy action at 3 frames per seconds.
