The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH2 belongs to the Panasonic Lumix FH series of point and shoot cameras. This sleek camera is ideal for the everyday photographer. The DMC-FH2 has a Leica DC Vario-ELMAR lens with a focal length of 5 - 20 mm and a 35 mm equivalent focal length of 28 - 112 mm.

This Panasonic DMC-FH2 features a CCD image sensor and takes pictures at 14.1 megapixel resolution. The 4x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom of this Lumix digital camera let you take close up shots of distant objects. This Lumix camera can reduce the image resolution to 3 megapixels to boost the zoom to 8.4x with the Extra Optical Zoom (EZ) feature.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH2 has a slim body design with rounded corners which make for a comfortable grip. Weighing a mere 121 g, this Panasonic digital camera will fit snugly in a bag of any size. The familiar 5-button Menu dial and the easy to access video recording button make photography hassle-free. You can record videos in HD at 1280 x 720 dot pixel resolution (30 fps) with this Lumix point and shoot camera.

This Lumix digital camera is powered by the Venus Engine, which enhances the experience of photography with higher quality signal processing. The Panasonic DMC-FH2 supports aspect ratios of 4:3, 3:2 and 16:9 in still image shooting. You can compose and preview your images and videos with the 2.7 inch TFT LCD display screen which has a resolution of 230,000 dot pixels.

Battery and Storage

The rechargeable Lithium Ion battery lets you take up to 270 images on a single charge. This Panasonic DMC-FH2 has an internal memory of 70 MB and can be further expanded using SD, SDHC or SDXC memory cards. To make more space for images, you can transfer your photographs from the DMC-FH2 to a laptop or computer with the USB 2.0 high speed port.

Performance

The aperture of this camera has a range of f/3.1 - 6.5, which you can manipulate to achieve dramatic results in your images. The auto focus in this Lumix digital camera has a range of 500 mm onwards (Wide) and 1000 mm to infinity (Tele) in Normal mode. In Macro mode, the focus range varies in the range of 50 mm onwards (Wide) and 1000 mm to infinity (Tele).

The light sensitivity of the Lumix point and shoot camera has a range of ISO 100 - 1600. This range increases from ISO 1600 - 6400 in the High Sensitivity mode. Shutter speed refers to the time that the shutter stays open to let light reach the image sensor. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH2 has a shutter speed of 8 - 1/1600 second in the Normal mode. In the Starry Sky mode, the shutter speed can be reduced to 15, 30 or 60 seconds to get dramatic images of the night sky.

The Lumix DMC-FH2 has a built-in flash with a range of 400 - 3300 mm (Wide) and 1000 - 1600 (Tele). This powerful flash will light up every corner of your images.

This Lumix DMC-FH2 has 28 preset scene modes like Sports, Night Portrait, Candle Light, Baby and many more. In the Baby mode, you can also record the name and birthday of your child and the Panasonic digital camera will embed this data in pictures of the baby. The optical image stabilizer of this camera is ideal to take images in the dark or of moving subjects, as it auto-corrects for any shake in the camera.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH2 has a Face Detection feature that identifies up to 15 faces in a single frame and optimizes focus and exposure settings that ensure all faces are in sharp focus. With the self-timer settings of 2 or 10 seconds, you delay the shutter release long enough to join your friends in every image. In the Continuous Shooting mode, you can take 15 - 100 images at 5.5 frames per second, and record every moment of a special dance or performance.
