The Creative Zen is a mid-range portable media player featuring a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen. The resistive screen packs 400 x 240 pixel resolution and renders rich contrasts with crisp details. The Creative X-Fi 2 is preloaded with a host of utility apps like a built-in alarm, task and contact manager and calendar.

The X-Fi Crystallizer technology in the Creative Zen creates an immersive acoustic experience that mimics the feel of listening from high quality multimedia speakers. It works by restoring any loss in audio quality due to compression, thereby delivering hi-fidelity sound output. Another unique feature in the Creative X-Fi 2 is the RSS feed support. The music player can sync and download RSS feeds from your PC for later viewing.

Design

The Creative Zen X-Fi 2's outer casing is crafted out of soft touch plastic. A slick metallic trim around the edge renders added durability to the player. The device weighs 75 g and measures 11.6 x 102 x 57 mm. The Zen is fitted with just three physical buttons. A Power/Hold button on the top spine, a Home button on the front and a Reset button at the bottom.

Creative had done away with a physical volume rocker on the Zen X-Fi 2, but the onscreen volume controls are extremely responsive and intuitive. The right edge houses the 3.5 mm headphone jack, along with the mini-USB port.

Battery and Storage

The Creative Zen X-Fi 2 comes with 8 GB of internal memory and has a microSD card slot for additional storage expansion. The portable media player is powered by a Lithium-Ion battery and supports up to 25 hrs of audio playback. The X-Fi 2 also doubles up as a USB mass storage device, thanks to easy drag-and-drop file transfer.

Functions

The Creative music player can connect to a TV via A/V cable(to be bought separately) to share your videos and photos in the big screen. The integrated FM Radio on the X- Fi 2 features 32 preset stations with auto tuning support. The X-Fi 2 supports eight preset sound settings and five band custom EQ for unmatched audio customisation.

The Zen-Fi 2 supports multiple audio formats (MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC4) including the high quality Free Lossless Audio Codec(FLAC). The supported video formats include WMV9, MPEG4-SP, DivX 4/5 and XviD. The Creative Zen X-Fi 2 ships with premium noise blocking earphones that are designed for comfortable extended wear.
